By Air
If you’re traveling from distant cities or abroad, flying is often the most convenient option. The nearest airport to Bir Billing is Kangra Airport in Gaggal, approximately 67 kilometers away. From there, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Bir Billing. Another option is the Dharamshala Airport, also known as the Gaggal Airport, which is around 72 kilometers away. Both airports offer domestic flights connecting major Indian cities, making air travel accessible for visitors.
By Road
For those who prefer road trips or are traveling from nearby destinations, reaching Bir Billing by road is a popular choice. The region is well-connected by road networks, and you can drive through scenic routes offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan landscape. While there isn’t a railway station in Bir Billing itself, you can still opt for train travel to nearby railheads. The closest railway stations to Bir Billing are Pathankot Railway Station and Pathankot Cantt Railway Station, both located approximately 140 kilometers away. From there, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Bir Billing. These railway stations are well-connected to major cities across India, providing convenient travel options for train enthusiasts.
Local Transport: Getting Around in Bir Billing
Once you’ve arrived in Bir Billing, getting around the region is relatively easy. Where To Stay In Bir or Billing?
Don’t stay in Billing as there isn’t much. Stay in Bir. You will find most places in Chougan Village in Bir, including backpacker hostels, luxury glamping resorts and homestays.
Among all, I can recommend The Solace, located in Chougan Village itself only 1km from the central market (or the Tibetan Colony).
