To make it easy for you to decide, I have classified the products as per their price tag — because I know that for some people PRICE MATTERS!

So starting from the cheapest to the most expensive, this is my recommended list of…

Best Tank Bags In India

Under 1000 Rupees

The products mentioned below are the cheapest options online. They fall under the category of tank pouches and tank covers and offer a very limited cargo space. They cannot carry anything more than your phone and wallet. But then again, look at their price and ask yourself “What more can I expect”!

Capeshoppers Tank Pouch

Made of artificial leather (with first impressions PRETTY IMPRESSIVE, but don’t think of it as a long-lasting leather) it looks great on all motorcycles — from classic bikes like Jawa Motorcycles and the Royal Enfields to street bikes like Pulsar and Apache. If your motorcycle’s tank is glossy, however, this product may end up leaving minor scratches.

What I love about it:

  • A stiff and royal look for this price tag.
  • Multiple storage pouches with zip protection.
  • Since it’s a tank cover (with a pouch) it will keep your tank safe from scratches and colour fade.

Saharaseats Tank Pouch

If you want a comparatively long-lasting and better-quality tank cover/pouch, this product from SaharaSeat is what you should go for. Just like Capeshopper’s Tank pouch (the one shown above), however, this product is made of fake leather too.

What I love about it:

  • Waterproof pockets.
  • Scratchproof backing.
  • A comparatively more durable and better-quality material.

Under 2000 Rupees

Moving a little further from cheap tank bags in India to something superior, the products mentioned below offer better quality and more cargo space. They can also be used as an alternative to your day-pack — use it as a motorcycle tank bag while riding, or attach the sling straps and use it as a normal backpack when not riding.

Trek ‘N’ Ride Mini

If you are looking for something that is not too big but offers enough cargo space to carry a few daily essentials (eg a mirrorless camera, phone chargers, wallet, shades and other such small items) look no further. This is a universal small tank bag suitable for all metal and non-metal motorcycle tanks. It comes with magnetic flaps on each side, 3 adjustable straps for non-metal tanks, a Rain Cover and a shoulder strap to carry around.

What I love about it:

  • It is water-resistant without a rain cover.
  • A simple design, containing 1 main compartment and 1 outer pocket.
  • It can be used on metal (using the magnetic flaps) as well as non-metal tanks (using the straps).
  • A transparent pouch on the outer flap for keeping the phone and using Google navigation.

Sparenuts Tank Bag

This is one of those products that look good on any bike model, whether it is a Royal Enfield an Avenger or a Duke KTM. It comes with a 4 Flap powerful magnet system that lets the bag maintain a hold of the tank even on the bumpiest ride. When you are not riding, local the straps in the D-Rings and use it as a sling bag, or side bag.

  • A fashionable, sleek design.
  • A high-quality waterproof material
  • Long-lasting fabric, ensuring the durability of the product.
  • A transparent pouch on top for keeping your phone and being able to use Google navigation.

Autofy Tank Bag

I have used a few products by Autofy (including the riding protectors and mobile holders) and I can vouch for the quality of their products — hence a much-deserving place in this list of best tank bags in India available online.

Top features that made me love this product:

  • Can be worn as a sling bag.
  • A long-lasting fabric on the exterior ensures durability.
  • A mobile pocket (which is a little small for a 6+ inch display mobile) with a transparent window for navigation.

RoadGods Zeon R1

Out of all the products mentioned in this list of best motorcycle tank bags available online, this product is, by far, my personal favorite. Why so? Because of its design.

Other than the design, here’s what I love about it:

  • Water Repellent, Water Resistant, Super Tough Nylon Fabric.
  • Transparent touch-sensitive pocket on top for using smartphones.
  • Convertible to a backpack, and a sling bag with supplementary straps.
  • It uses a 3-buckle Attachment Mechanism. No magnets, which sometimes leave scratch marks on the tank.

Rynox Navigator

This tank bag is ideal for riders looking to carry only the essentials on the tank. Since it comes with no strap-mechanism, it is not recommended for non-magnetic tanks.

  • Genuine YKK zippers.
  • A transparent smart device screen pocket on top.
  • Can be converted into a sling bag by attaching shoulder straps.
  • Waterproof outer mesh with a separate waterproof rain cover.
  • Anti-scratch and anti-skid fabric on the base to prevent the magnets from scratching the motorcycle tank.

Under 3000 Rupees

The tank bags below are preferred by in-city rides allowing you to carry a few daily essentials. For the touring purposes, however, you may need something bigger, except for the Guardiangears Jaws. Both the sections below showcase Raida bags that, according to me, make the best tank bags in India.

Raida RD Metro

With an expandable cargo volume (from 12 kg to 15kg) Raida RD Metro is an exceptional piece of motorcycle luggage, designed for a short trip or a quick ride in the city. It is compact enough to sit seamlessly on your tank but spacious enough to fit in all the essentials you require on your daily commute.

What I love about it:

  • A reliable and well-known Indian motorcycle gear brand.
  • Can be used as a Sling / Shoulder bag like most tank bags.
  • Expandable cargo (12kg when zipped to 15kg when expanded).
  • Comes with Magnet & Straps to mount on Metal & Non-Metal Tank Bikes.
  • Transparent rain cover pouch for the smartphone that you can use in the rain.

Tanners Pride Magnetic Tank Case

A very similar product to TripMachine’s tank pouch (read about their other products in my Jawa aftermarket gears and accessories blog) this is a product to enhance the looks of a retro motorcycle. It has 6 well-placed magnets that hold firmly to your bike’s tank. Speaking of the material, it is made of 100% full-grain leather. The bag is big enough to only carry essentials like travel earphones, visiting cards, mobile phones and wallets, combined.

What I love about it:

  • The looks!

GuardianGears Jaws

Thanks to its 28L cargo space, it happens to be one of the cheapest touring tank bags available online, and that is its USP. Made of high abrasion resistance PU coated fabric, it is durable and water-resistant too.

What else I love about it:

  • YKK original zippers.
  • Expandable cargo space (from 21ltr to 28ltr).
  • Can be carried as a backpack too thanks to the shoulder straps.

Under 4000 Rupees

Given below are the most expensive but best tank bags in India. They offer about 30 ltr of space — good enough to carry a full-face helmet, or other essentials like a laptop, about 3-4 T-shirts, 2 pairs of jeans, a few pairs of socks/undergarments and toiletries.

Raida GPS

I have been using this tank bag for about a year now. I have used it during my 2 months of Delhi to Bangalore motorcycle trip, other than a few comparatively shorter rides (like the Shinkula Pass and the Sach Pass ride) and have loved its features. It comes with up to 31 ltr of cargo space (when expended), a great magnetic hold, a transparent mobile pocket on top and other things.

What I love about it:

  • The 22 ltr cargo space can be extended to 31 ltr.
  • A transparent mobile pocket on top for the smartphone.
  • The two convenient side pockets hold smaller items for easy access.
  • Since it can fit my full-face helmet and I can make it a backpack, I carry it during in-city rides too.
  • A very reliable external rain-cover (have tested it in 7+ hours of a continuous ride with my laptop and the DSLR inside the bag).

Rynox Optimus

And last but not least, in this article about the best tank bags in India available online is the Rynox Gear’s Optimus.

What I love about it:

  • Genuine YKK zippers.
  • A 25 ltr expandable cargo volume (to upto 31 Ltr).
  • 2 convenient side pockets and 1 quick access top pocket.
  • A transparent pouch on the outer flap for the smartphone.
  • Can be carried as a backpack too thanks to the shoulder straps.
  • The 1680D polyester water-resistant fabric despite a separate rain cover that comes with it.

But be assured that the original price of all the tank bags when you buy them online, on Amazon, will remain the same for you!

Also, all recommendations are solely personal. I wasn’t paid to promote any of the products mentioned above. I only recommend what I try and find worth appreciating!

What To Look For When You Buy A Tank Bag Online

Picking the right gear is an important part of planning your trip. Buy the wrong product and you will end up regretting it later.

When it comes to buying tank bags online, make sure you check their size. Too big and you’ll have a bulky thing sitting on your motorcycle’s fuel tank. Or you might not even be able to turn left and right efficiently. Too small and you’ll never fit all you want to carry with you! Pick the wrong material and your stuff will be soaked in the rain.

There are so many tank bags out there that it can be very confusing to know how to pick the right one.

There’s a science to knowing what will be best for you– and how to pick it! When I first started touring, I spent weeks while buying a tank bag online. I tried dozens of products, did hours of online research, and packed many to get a feel for what they would be like sitting on my motorcycle. It was a time-consuming process.

So to save you hours upon hours of research, and learn from someone who already knows what works and what doesn’t, I have provided you with some of the tried, tested, and best tank bags in India, and the ones you can buy online.

And speaking of a few important things to keep in mind while buying one, here are those…

  1. The size. Since you don’t need to invest in something that is big for your motorcycle and hinders your left and right turns. And this brings us to the second point that most riders disregard while buying a tank bag online, and that is…
  2. Weight. All the products I have mentioned above are not too heavy. You don’t want to buy something that weighs too much.
  3. A water-repellant outer mesh. Also, a rain cover is not provided with the bag.
  4. Make sure it has at least one year of manufacturing warranty (at least on tank bags that cost around 2000 Rupees and more).
  5. Check the reviews provided by other customers.
  6. Invest in something that comes with YKK zippers.
  7. Make sure the textile that covers the magnets is not too raw else it may end up scratching the surface of your motorcycle.

That’s all in this blog on the best tank bags in India you can buy online. If you have more suggestions to add and help the community, please leave a comment below. If you want to message me directly, you can do so on Instagram.
