A One Week Road Trip Itinerary For Uttarakhand: Delhi To Munsiyari

This one-week road trip itinerary from Delhi to Munsiyari will take you across many highlights in Uttarakhand! Since I have bought a motorbike in April this year, I have been planning road-trips across the Himalayas. Where these road-trips surely fall under the category of a ‘road-trip’ the fact that I travel very slow (for example, taking a month for the usual one-week Delhi-Ladakh trip) is what differentiates them other similar road-trips or the road trip itineraries you find online. These itineraries (that I will be sharing with you in the coming weeks/months) will take you across a place in a much detailed and orderly manner. So, following the same ‘slow-travel’ approach, last month, in June of 2019, I did a 20-day road trip from New Delhi to Munsiyari – yes, the same route that can otherwise be done over a weekend. During those 20 days, I stayed at 11 different locations and drove nearly 2000km. I rented guest houses, stayed in backpacker hostels and even camped on the way. Sometimes, I stayed on the main …

A One Week Road Trip Along The Romantic Road: Germany’s Most Beautiful Holiday Route

Last year, while backpacking in Bavaria region in Germany, I got introduced to Germany’s most beautiful holiday route: The Romantic Road. It all happened when I planned a day trip to Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber, almost unknowingly that it is located on the Romantic Road trail, or, the fact that there is something called the Romantic Road, and found out that Germany has not just one but several such picturesque fairy-tale towns. “You should do the Romantic Road sometimes, if visiting similar small medieval towns is your thing” I remember being told as I picked a brochure that read ‘Medieval Germany’ at the tourist information center in Rothenburg At that time I paid no interest in what the lady at the reception desk was saying, and neither did I bother inquiring more on the subject. But as I got back to my hotel later in the evening, and looked at the brochure, I came across the same term again “The Romantic Road”. Naturally Intrigued, I Google more about the subject and found that Romantic Road, …

Review Nissan Sunny: A Perfect Sedan For Family Road-Trips

When you’ve been driving your own car for long it’s hard to instantly feel comfortable behind the wheel of an unfamiliar vehicle, and so was the case with me as I received the Nissan Sunny to test-drive and review it during a few days long family road trip in the Himalayas. I mean, I am one of those people who have to do a lot of finagling and manoeuvring of buttons, seats, not to mention adjusting a few things that are fairly critical, such as side rear-view mirrors and the programmed radio station selection. But with the kind of technology that Nissan Sunny offered (from its automatic CVT transmission to electrically adjustable mirrors), things become a lot easier right from the beginning. My First Impression Of Nissan Sunny A road trip really allows you to get to know a vehicle. You get to know about it drivability, the level of comfort it offers, and other things closely. Does it have plenty of cupholders? Are the seats comfortable? Do you have plenty of room to stretch your legs? …

A 5-Day Family Road Trip Around Manali, From Delhi

“Watch it” “Slow down” and “Careful”, as I vaguely remember, are the three phrases my father repeatedly spat on me during our recent 5-day family road trip to Manali from Delhi, the idea of which germinated in my mind when Nissan India asked if I wanted to test drive one of their cars on a road trip to the Himalayas somewhere. Read: Nissan Sunny Review A family road trip, as I experienced myself, can be just as wonderful an experience as with friends. Though of course, a road trip with friends has its own perks — with the biggest benefit being the fact that you don’t feel a need to pre-plan your journey while travelling with friends, whereas when with the family, you need to pre-plan and pre-plan a lot. Because if you already know where you’re going and if the places you’re visiting are peaceful enough for spending some family time together, then you’re in store for some amazing lifetime memories. So if you too are planning a few days long road-trip in the Himalayas with …

A Road Trip Across The Coastal Maharashtra: The beauty Unexplored

“We think of travel and we look to far-flung places. We don’t think of stopping to view what’s on offer in our own streets, or neighbouring towns” I never expected this statement being valid on me until very recently, as I explored the beauty of coastal Maharashtra on a four-day road trip. So far I believed that India has everything to offer but a scenic coastal ride, and to get the best of a road trip in India your options are limited to the Himalayas, with Spiti Valley and Leh Ladakh topping the list. To make it even ironic, every time someone asked me about my favourite coastal route the first thing that came to my mind was the Great Indian Ocean Drive in Western Australia, or someplace in Italy. Though I am certainly not comparing the coastal roads of Australia or Italy with those of Maharashtra, in India, the fact that I never explored my own backyard that I didn’t know what beauty it had to offer. 4 Days | 600km | Unbounded Beauty For …

Driving In Nagaland: With Datsun redi-GO

Those having even a little idea about how I like to travel may well know that I have never been a group traveller, and when my travels are complimented with the comfort of exploring places in a guided tour and in a private car, things become even more uninteresting. But ever since I had a motorbike ride in Jammu with 60 other riders, I’ve discovered a completely different part of me — a part that occasionally enjoys the company of fellow-travellers, a part that sometimes appreciates the comfort of having a private vehicle. Overpowered with ‘that other me’ when an invitation with Datsun India, for a few days of drive in an around Kohima, in Nagaland, landed in my inbox, I said ‘why not’. And the next thing I knew was I was flying from New Delhi to Dimapur, with three other bloggers to explore Kohima, and the popular Hornbill Festival. Driving In Nagaland As I discovered, Nagaland is a part of India, yet vastly different from the rest of India in many ways. And the biggest of …
